It's essentially a rebadged Lite-On SOHW-1213S. TDK didn't even do much to change the way it looks. The bezel is identical to Lite-On's.

But it has a very attractive TDK logo on the tray. And, it's got a black tray, which we all know improves burn quality.

It does? I've seen that written before, but I can't fathom how that'd work since the tray is open in the area where the PUH and the disc interact, so I have no idea how the tray color off far away from the laser would make any difference.

you'd better as Plextor, who have "invented" this "feature" with their 40x drives.
(only question remains: who to contact @ Plextor: Engineering dept. or Marketing dept. ??? :o )
