has anyone used benq `1600 16x drive?

Postby shimman on Mon Aug 02, 2004 8:57 pm

i am considering to buy 1600 because i can get it for 80usd including tax but last 820 (or was it 822) review was not impressive; though k's probe scan was good the cd/dvd speed's reading test was not, so i like to know how well 1600 is performing & like to see plextools scans & cd/dvd reading scans

thanks

You can find many Kprobe scans of discs burnt with the 1600 in the Cdfreaks BenQ forum.

Mine seems to make good copies so far :) depends on the media and speed like any drive but they keep releasing firmwares and the quality of most burns is very good.,

thanks dartman for your input

when i read review from cdrinfo.com, it seemed that 712a scan & 811s scans did not agree at all, i am more inclined to belive 712a scans but who knows which is more right. what i want to see is read speed test using 712a because 712a has poor error correction, so if 712a can read to the max without problem i consider the burn a good burn

anyhow, i just ordered it for the hack of it....who know it might be upgradable to 4x dl writing (1630)

i will post some scans to cdfreaks forum since i don't have any personal web site space
