Very low C1 error rates. True?

Postby Sa[v]aGe on Thu Aug 05, 2004 9:14 am

You can see the scan in this post:

I was wondering whether theese results are true. This is very low C1 error rate, I don't believe that I have seen so low error rate so far.

This isn't realistic. DVD-Rom drives report C1/C2 differently than burners (Karr Wang mentioned something about "cooked" rather than "raw" mode, I'm not sure if it was here or at CDFreaks) and show unrealistically low values. It seems that the combo drives are the same.

I've also found that my DVD-burner (SOHW 1213S) reports much lower values than my CD-Burner (LTR 46246S), but it's not clear yet if that's because it's a better reader or because it reports errors differently.

You're better off using a CD-burner for these tests (if you have one).

(edit: I just saw that this has been discussed at CDFreaks. Similar information...)
