Caution: Nec ND-3500a in CD-R burns

Postby bucknasty on Sun Aug 29, 2004 10:45 am

Just an fyi.. if you don't buy Ritek media (tdk or verbatim), the nec will NOT burn 48x when burning CD-r's .

It will be limited to only 32x. Doesn't matter if your "Ty" media is rated 52x, it will not let you have more than 32x when burning CD's.

Otherwise, great drive.

Yep, I know, but it needs repeating with a more informative "attention getting" subject line. :)

Sliver line is also by Ritek, and burns at 48. Interestingly, NEC's own Medialist for the 3500(http://www.de.nec.de/software/1677_Media_List_for_16x_DVD_Writer_(DVT).pdf) states that only Mitsubishi (Verbatim) x48 will burn at x48, yet Ritek is also supported (at least with 2.17 firmware)
