Just saw this version TS0D on LiteOn's page, dated 3 Sept, "match more media". Download here.

There's a lot more than that too. They have firmware for the 811, 411, 401 and others. I have links on the main news page.

 I got so worked up when I saw TS0D that I didn't look further. Have to wait till I get home from work to try it out. I've been using the Sony BSY1 fw for the last few days because it addresses some reading issues and seems to do better on 8x burns than TS0C.

Well, I tried it out and the excitement abated rather rapidly.

I don't think this firmware is either much newer or much better than TS0C. The reading behaviour is the same.

The date of flasher executable is 6 Aug, the internal date of the firmware is 19 July. So it's only 3 days newer than TS0C!! Why wait a month to release it?

Here are the internal dates of the firmware versions I have available:
Code: Select all
TS08   15 June
TS09    3 June
TS0C   16 July
TS0D   19 July

According to this, TS09 is older than TS08. For comparison, the Sony Fw BY01 is dated 6 Aug and contains more media codes.

Your dates are incorrect.

- TS05 - Dated "2004/05/27 22:25"
- TS08 - Dated "2004/06/03 16:47"
- TS09 - Dated "2004/06/15 10:08"
- TS0C - Dated "2004/07/16 19:37"
- TS0D - Dated "2004/07/19 20:04"

FS51 is an odd firmware, probably just OEM. I don't see any reason not to update to FS0K if you have FS51.

Sounds good to me! I'll update before I burn something next... if I decide to use that drive for burning again for some reason :P

Yeah, probably, but please make a backup of its firmware first and send it to me.
