which burner had the honeycomb bottom?

The Pioneer DVR-A07XL and DVR-A08XL have a honeycomb pattern on the top.

so only the retail ver of the 107 and 108 have this feature? its suppose to keep noise levels down right? if thats the case im happy of the oem version of the 108.

No, only the XL models have this. Retail 107D (aka A07D) or retail 108 (aka A08) models don't have the honeycomb pattern. XL models are pretty much only available retail boxed while you can find standard versions commonly sold in bulk, retail, or rebadged (OEM) variations.

i really don't think it makes your drive quieter, its all marketing gimmick

I have a oem 108 it has no honeycomb bottom or top but it still is really silent

You don't notice the noise as much when you are looking at the honeycomb pattern :wink: :lol:
