Is there any way to get this drive to read +R media?

Umm...the LTD-166S does play DVD+R media... I've never heard of it not playing it.

That's where I'm confused. I'll elaborate a bit more...I'm using maxell dvd+r and it's a multisession disc. And when I put the disc in, explorer just says windows cannot read this disc. Is the multisession my problem?

And if not then what can I do to get it working...or is it just the media.

It's possible that multi-session is the problem,it could also be a bad burn.
Have you updated your firmware lately? www.rpc1.org
If that doesn't help use IsoBuster.

What burner are you using? I have just noticed that my 166s (DS1C) will not read any SL DVD+R discs burnt with an LG GSA 4120B. Windows gives corrupt file systems error. I disk manager, they show up as just over 8GB. These disk are, however, perfectly readable with both my LG burners, and pioneer DVD-roms.

Edit: I should add that the same discs burnt with a GSA 4040B work just fine. As do DVD-Rs.
