What's the reason for this sentence in every news item about new Pioneer firmware?
Once again, keep in mind that once you upgrade your drives firmware to v#.##, you cannot go back to previous versions.

Downgrading is easy with third party flash tools...

Wow, it moved up from early 2005 to 2 months? Pretty soon the rumor mill will say that it will ship in October. #-o

I was sooooo close to buying the 108 drive UNTIL I heard about the 109 model coming.

I am so tired of these companies being too good for their customers and not realeasing FW upgrades and making us buy new equipment. Plextor didn't want to add 8x dvd-r support for a long time. They changed their tune and finally did issue a FW upgrade for it though.

Ian, like i told you the guy only mentioned that A09 should be out late November maybe beggining of December.
We've talked here that A09 wasn't to be due until 2005 that's why I asked.
He didn't mentioned the specs and that made me thinking that it could be yet another one of those rumours. Well it seems that it is one of those rumours...
AnywayTopic is for A08 and i've been watching topics for A08 for a long time now.

It seems that this new firmware is able to drop 30 secs on a 16x burn... Not bad but it's still slow as the drive only pops to 16x at the 4gb mark...

I'l put the link later with some of the tests...

I've seen those rumors flying around the web as well. It's just pure rumor and speculation. No specs or ship dates have been confirmed or announced yet.

I'm still a believer in a December, or near December release date for the A09. However this will also depend pretty much entirely on what happens with DVD-R9.
