Nero Actual Burning Speed?.

Postby TCAS on Fri Oct 29, 2004 2:27 am

How do you enable actual burning speed in Nero6.6.0.1? There is use to be a procedure in Nero 5.5 and later Nero 6 to go in to windows registry and change the value of Nero Burring ROM info from 0 to1. What about this version of Nero (6.6.0.1) how you can set the Nero to show actual burning speed rather just disc rated speed.

should be the same procedure (registry entry) as for the previous versions.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

registry-editor: go to: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]. Search there for the DWORD ShowSingleRecorderSpeed and change the HEX from 0 to 1.
if the DWORD doesn't exist, create it.

or:
Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]
"ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"=dword:00000001

save this into a text file called speed.reg, and then double-click it.

Note to Ahead:
While you are adding the eject button why not add this so we don't have to do a reghack.

i think this was discussed before.
if i recall rightly, Craig Campbell said the idea was considered but rejected.

it was something to do with sales consideration or support - it would confuse too many idiots or some such argument.

Yeah, I seem to remember that they were afraid of too many numbskulls that would go up in arms when they realized that their 52x burner didn't go 52x for the whole disc. I should actually not disparage these guys too badly as I was that guy until I found this forum  . I am sure that many more were too! :-$

what's the point?
all of us do this registry fix easily.
i don't care if Ahead makes it an option in the expert preferences, or not.

although i don't agree with Ahead, i think there should be such an option.

Getting in to registry and modify it may be is easy and non-issue for you and I, but thousand and thousand end user are that they don't know what the registry is and are scare to dead to even touch the registry. For Nero to showing solid speed (in fact the speed disc is comparable to be written) is misleading and confusing, the design of software for any faction has to be quite clear and ambiguous and user friendly. The writing speed in Nero is dynamic and is function of time, quality of disc, software design premeter, therefore must show actual speed of writing at any given second.

Works like a charm.

Saved it to my 2nd HDD for easy access. It's where I keep the previous 2 releases of Nero, incase I need to revert to a previous version.
