Memorex 50 Pack DVD+R/-R - Buy 1 Get 1 Free @ Best Buy

Postby Ian on Sun Nov 07, 2004 12:04 pm

In this weeks ad... buy one Memorex DVD+R or DVD-R 50 Pack and get one free. Price is $39.99. Not too bad for 100 discs...

I'm not sure if this is their 4x or 8x discs. Hopefully their 8x...

Not a bad price. The media code for +R is Ritek R03. Anyone know what the media code is on the TDK's? They are $9.99 per 8x +R 25-pk, so about the same price for 100 pcs as the Memorex.

Not all Memorex +R media is Ritek. In fact, most of it is actually CMC (CMC MAG E01). They also use Philips, Prodisc and MCC (made by CMC though).

The -R media I've seen is CMC MAG.AE1

The 8x TDK's are in two different cakeboxes in our local BB. They have RicohJPN that has a vertical Barcode and has a more rounded cakebox (burns @ 12x in my NEC), and they have CMC in a more standard looking cakebox with a horizontal Barcode (burn @ 8x on NEC). $9.99 /25 pack with no limits on how many (locally at least).

So which is better for a nec 3500? TDK or memorex? :)

The cdrs at $20 for 100 isnt too bad either. Kmart of all places has fuji 15pack dvd+r or -r for 9.99. Fuji 50pak cdrs is $10.

I ordered the 100 deal memorex +R for my new 3500 that is coming next week(great deal). Got a 100 pack of fugi +R 8x at buy.com also. So we will see which if any work at 8x or better with my nec 3500 / 2510 and opto 401.

Good news so far! The Fugi +r TY is 8x on my NEC 2510 and IO 401 burners. Good clean burns at 8x. Thurs I should have a memorex/3500 update. Thanks for the heads up on the memorex deal. 8) 8) 8)

Bad news! The memorex/ritek03 8x+ burned at 4x on the 3500 using firmware 2.16. So since the Fugi was perfect do I chance the 2.18?
I will test the 2510 and 401 this weekend.
2510 with 2.16 firmware is 4x! :(
What can I say. You get what you pay for and a sale can be for a specific reason. Get rid of 8x dvds that burn at 4x. :(
401 fw=160I=a good 8x=8 minutes with lead in and lead out for a full disk.

NEC ver. 2.18 firmware still burns those Fuji @16x. Didn't really see a difference from 2.17 -> 2.18 on any of the media I already have in house. Of course, who needs firmware upgrades as long as Fuji keeps us in TY's (hopefully longer than they did with their CD's) [-X .

Yep! It did slip up to a whole 8x. Now I need to check my Fugi to make sure they still burn at 16X.

Hey!!!! My 2510a is stuck at 4x with the Ritek 8x+ and FW 2.16. Any more current firmware for the 2510.

Good news. The Italian Job steered me to BIN flash/dump and FW 2.F8. Now my Ritek is burning at 8X in the 2510a.
