External Hard Drive Recommendations, 250GB. One-Touch, WD?

Postby axelrod on Thu Nov 25, 2004 6:02 pm

Hi everyone.

I was looking at purchasing an external HD to use as storage and backup. I've basically looked at all drives availiable, and seen pros and cons for each. Do any of you have recommendations using these or related products?

Maxtor One Touch II - 16mb cache, 250GB, Usb 2.0/Firewire

Western Digital 250GB, 8mb cache, Usb 2.0/Firewire

Simpletech 250GB, 8mb cache, Usb 2.0/Firewire

LaCie 250GB, 8mb cache (?), Usb 2.0/Firewire

Thanks!!!

ok first off your avatar is a little big, please size it down

second off save some money and buy internal 250gb for $129 next week at staples and then buy external hard drive case for $30 or so bucks
Thermaltake Core X5 Snow Edition TG Case
Corsair RM1000 Power Supply
MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
AMD Threadripper 1950x @ 4.1GHz
Custom Loop w/ EK MSI x399 Monoblock
G.Skill 4x8GB DDR4 3200 RGB Memory
MSI 1080Ti Lightning X Video Card

Hard to say no to a 16MB cache though...

At any rate, as hox said, your avatar is too big.

thanks for the info... I am really leaning toward the Maxtor, because of the above -- it seems like the best deal for 245 bucks. The external case, I'd do that -- but, I have no idea how to set that up, and while I'm sure it's not too difficult -- I don't know.

I think this avatar is still too big, but at leas it's vertical. I'll have to photoshop it.

thanks!

just use paint and shrink it by 80%

also there is nothing to putting a hard drive case together, you plug 2 cables in, screw it down and close the case
