New Lite On 1633S, 851s, and 451s firmware

Postby hydrogen on Fri Dec 03, 2004 5:48 pm

Lite On released a new firmware for their 1633s, 851s, and 451s drives.

I really wish they would say what has changed except saying match more media.

If anyone uses the new 851s firmware, please let me know how it performs to the previous firmwares. What is the best official firmware for the 851s at this time?

well before this 1633s update was the bs41 firmware that upgraded to 12x dvd-r and 4x dvd+RDL... these firmware versions are BS0R sounds like it's lower??.. when i try to run it, it gives an error saying i need 1633s and shows what's detected and duh it shows my 1633s on the error screen.

also the liteon tw and usa sites have different version numbers.. anyone know wtf is going on?

From my post here...

code65536 wrote:BS0R does not support 4x +R DL or 12x -R. Only the BS4x firmware series intended for the American market have these enhancements. BS0R is the firmware upgrade intended for non-American markets and does not contain these enchancements. Personally, I would recommend sticking with the enhanced BS4x firmwares.

Drives flashed to a BS4x enhanced firmware cannot be flashed back to a "standard" firmware, at least, not with the official flasher. But I don't see why you would want to downgrade back to a standard firmware. ;)
