video format conversion

Postby alpalmer on Tue Dec 07, 2004 9:25 pm

I have a Plextor PXM402U capture device and the Intervideo WInDVD creator that came with it. I use that program to capture video from a camcorder. I have been trying to use Pinnacle Studio 9 to edit and develop the video. When I try to import a segment captured with Win DVD into Studio 9 I get the message "cannot open this progressive scan non-interlaced MPEG2 video file format." There are no options for other formats in the WinDVD. Strangely, Studio 9 will open files captured in Roxio or with Plextor GoCap, a capture program that is independent from WinDVD. My quesion, is there a software program that would convert the files captured in Win DVD into a format that would be acceptable to Studion 9? By the way, Studio 9 will not capture from the Plextor. It shows up on the capture device screen but will not capture any video.

You could try converting the MPEG2 clip to MPEG1 or AVI. TMPGEnc or NeroVision Express will convert video files for you.
