I was at Best Buy yesterday and I noticed that all of their -R except for Sony was made in Taiwan. A lot of the +R was made in Japan. From eveything I've been reading, media made in japan is the way to go.

If you want good media then get TY or MCC or Verbatin... I beleive that these are the top 3 when it comes to quality...
Now whether you should get - or + it's just a mather of price... Get the cheapest ones...

-R is actually part of teh DVD specification set out by the DVD Forum...+R is not....most players will play both...but 2 member sin my family have players that will not play even bitset -r...stay with -r

in terms of longevity..who cares? media is cheap now..back it up

DVD Media, +r or -r

Postby steelly on Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:46 pm

I use -r because then I am sure it will work in all of my childrens DVD players. I have three that tell me their DVD players refuse to recognize DVD + disc. Also, I recently bought FujiFilm -r at Best Buy, and they are Taiyo Yuden, Code TYG02.

As someone posted the format doesn't really matter unless you have an older, or one of the few less compatible current models, DVD player.

The key thing is to get quality media, be it minus/dash or plus.
