From what I've read, very few, if any, of the 25 pack Fuji DVD-Rs are Taiyo Yuden. It sounds like most are Prodisc (Taiwan) media which while not HORRIBLE, it's nowhere near TY quality.

Of course, things change in this market weekly, but no, there's no way to tell without having the spindle in front of you and looking at what it says.

BB also has TDK 50 packs of their +R and -R media for $19.99 after instant rebate.

Yeowee! That is not good news if they are not TY. Stay away from them if they are not TY. You could buy them and take them back I guess???
All of my 8X+R are TY and I bought them from three different sources. I guess -R is a crap shoot.
Thanks guys for reviving this section. I check it everyday for good deals and depend on it/thanks again. :D

No the one which is on sale this week at Best Buy is DVD-R (25 pack) and is made in Japan, the DVD+R is made in Japan for $19.99 per pack of 25. I was kind of luck today when I hit the store they were already out of sale item (DVD-R) and I convinced the sale person to let me have 2 pack of (DVD+R made in Japan) for the sale price of $8.99 per pack of 25. BTW: Made in Japan or Taiwan is written on the package blue robin.

I was at BB in Roseville,CA the other day and the Fuji -R were made in Taiwan. The +R were made in Japan. The -R 1X made in Taiwan should be RitekG03 which are supposedly decent media.

You right, I apologize to dodecahedron, what I meant the DVD-R which was on sale were made in Taiwan and DVD+R which was $19.99 were made in Japan.

yeah. i got a friend in the US who's buying some stuff for me and will soon ship it over. :D

DVD media prices here is at least twice that in the US.
more actually (lower quality media - not TY at twice or more the price of sales in the US)
example: some media i bought when i got the burner and subsequently returned:
Verbatim 4x DVD+RW 5-pack in jewel cases: 100 shekels = $22 roughly.
Verbatim 4x DVD+R 10-spindle: 80 shekels = $18. that's $1.8 per disc.
Verbatim 4x DVD-R 10-spindle same price.
these are Office Depot (b&m) prices. i don't think Verbatim can be gotten cheaper online, not significantly anyway.

Glad you have a friend here who can save you a bundle then. :)
OD doesn't usually have the best prices, but from time to time they have had BOGO - buy one get one - (aka B1G1F) deals.

This week, Best Buy has 25 packs of both DVD-R and DVD+R for $8.99. It is a great deal. I checked two Best Buys and it looked like their entire stock of DVD+R was Made in Japan.

Less than 40 cents each for TY media is a nice deal. :)

The Best Buy I was at today had Made in Taiwan on the shelf and Made in Japan DVD+R in their overstock area. In my area, at least, the DVD-R and DVD+R is on sale for $8.99 both. I was able to use a 10% off coupon today so $0.34 after tax for TY is an excellent deal.

That's a good point about the overstock area. There have been several times where the shelves were empty of a sale item, and I went to overstock area and found a ton of the media. They aren't real good about restocking empty shelves.

I stopped by today and grabbed a couple more Made In Japan Fuji DVD+R. The Best Buys by me are out of the DVD-R. They do have Made In Japan Sony DVD-R 50 packs for $19.99.

Here is a 10% off coupon for Best Buy in store. Give it to the cashier after she hits total, she will then scan it and it will take 10% off all media on your receipt.

Fuji 25 packs for $8.09 a piece.

Grabbed 3 of the +R for 27, thanks to the coupon posted above. They are Japan discs, TY media. I just burned one successfully in my OEM 1620 at 16X. Nero CD quality was 98%.

Any links to interpreting the results? When I search for cd quality, it finds an unmanageable list of matches.

Bad news! I ordered +R and they shipped me -R. I have to make a trip to a best buy somewhere and exchange this junk media.

Done ! Exchanged it for +R TY. =D>
