CD disc and DVD burner questions....

Postby btiger on Mon Dec 27, 2004 10:45 pm

Does anyone knows how come those manufacturers CDs that come with your motherboard/video card/monitor/burner etc.....)all have the same clear data surface and they last forever and most importantly, those CDs can be read by all CD/DVD Rom and CD/DVD burners? whereas those CDRs that we bought from the store all DO NOT have the clear data surface (even the best TY disc made in Japan)? and once you burned these discs, some of them just simply could not be read by some of the burners? (CD/DVD Rom no problem, just those CD/DVD burner)

Because prerecorded media are pressed and have a plastic/metallic layer which is easier for the laser to read, recordable media uses organic dye which may not spread evenly.
