Ritek G05 not as good as Memorex DVD-R?

Postby MaxBurn on Sun Jan 02, 2005 8:11 pm

I did a little test after I ran into some problems with ritek media. Found some interesting things. Maybe my drive just likes the memorex stuff? Bad batch of ritek stuff? What do you think?

Well, Ritek is somewhat inconsistant, so that kind of difference between two discs in the same spindle isn't that surprising to me.

Damn, I thought ritek was some of the best, that's why I bought that in particular.

Is there a particular brand name for "TY TYG02 media" I should look for?

Either buy online or go to Best Buy this week and pick up 8X Sony DVD-R (50 for $19.99) that say Made In Japan on the back.

Ehh sony made in Japan can be made by SONY themselves on weird occasions. Still in that case you get very high quality Sony disc's.

The rumor is that the Sony coded 8X DVD-R discs come from the Taiyo Yuden plant.

Speaking of Memorex and Ritek, sometimes Memorex 8x DVD-R IS RitekG05. Or it could be ProdiscF01, or Fujifilm03, or CMC's 8x media.
