Using my new DVD writer

Postby cornishgal55 on Thu Jan 06, 2005 11:27 am

I have just bought and installed a NEC ND-3500 Double Layer Dual 16x DVD R/RW. It came with no installation instructions or software, so I removed my old DVD-ROM and replaced with the DVD RW. I bought some DVD-R disks. When I go to explorer and if there is a DVD in the drive it recognises that it is a DVD RW, but as soon as I put a blank DVD in the drive,it says it is not accessible and reports it as a CD-ROM inthe decription next to the drive. Am I supposed to buy some software to make it work?

This is normal for a blank disc, use a free burn software such as:
www.burnatonce.com
www.deepburner.com
www.cdburnerxp.se
www.dvddecrypter.com (for burning ISO)
