TAY0 YUDEN -R, RICOHJPN 01 +R 4X for $3.50 a 20PK in thin jewel cases. it's A flat out steal,
since most decent burners can burn these at 8X. Get them before the employees scarf them up.

I am looking in to Staples WEB site in to computer media section of DVD+R and DVD-R, I don't see such deal. How did you guys know about this? I might even call the store and ask them if they ever had such deal.

After reading this post today I stopped by a Staples during an errand. The 20 pack Maxell with jewel cases were marked $29.99. I asked the lady to scan them for a price. She initially seemed bothered because it was priced and then shocked when it came up $3.50.

Here's a sample of what I bought:

The DVD+R is RICOHJPNR01. Some boxes said Made in Japan and some had stickers with Made in Taiwan over them but both scan as RICOHJPNR01. I wonder if RICOHJPNR01 is indeed made in japan or they forgot to put MIT stickers on them.

THe DVD-R is MXLRG02. All boxes said Made in Japan.

It's possible that some of the batches are RitekR02 for the DVD+R and TY for the DVD-R but I don't have the time to open and test each package right now.

Thank you to the poster who tipped us off on this deal.

Does anyone know exactly why their on clearance? Is it because they are 4x media or maxell isn't going to sell 20 pack with slim jewel cases anymore? Just curious.

Thank you jpuntel for posting this.

Does anyone know how long this have been on clearance?

Probably because they're 4x discs. Hopefully this means we'll get Maxell 8x discs soon.

If you took advantage of the Staples clearance deal, check your packages. In one of the DVD+R 20 packs the last two jewel cases said DVD+RW on them. Sure enough the discs inside said it too. They are RICOHJPNW11 4x DVD+RW. Cool.

Maxell 8x DVD +r and -r at Office Depot

Postby steelly on Sun Jan 16, 2005 8:59 pm

Yes, Office Depot has Maxell 8x DVD +r and -r onsale right now as we communicate: Spindle of 15 for $4.99. I bought four DVD-R spindles, and two DVD+R. These are such tiny spindles after buying spindles of a 100 or 50.

I was at Office Depot today as well and only saw 15 pack 4x Maxell for 4.99. Maybe it was different by region.

I could not pass it up since one of my burners like it. Scans as MXL RG02.

Office Max has HP 4x +RW for 9.99 for 10 pack. Not the best deal but not too bad. Scan as Philips 041.

I bought four 20 packs for $3.50 each. two of them are MIJ and two are MIT.

The MIJ ID is Ricoh Jpn, R01-002.

The Taiwan ID is Ritek R02-001.

I haven't checked any from the other two boxes, but I think it is going to be the same because one was marked MIT and the other was MIJ. as were the first two I opened.
I am not what I was, nor yet what I am to become.

For what its worth, I stopped by one yesterday and they had the 4x on the shelf in the 15 packs. Maxell uses the same UPC for both speeds.

Guess a slip of the tongue/pen.
They do sell UPS and some networking gear there, so it isn't that crazy to think they COULD sell DVD media...
