Dual layer firmware for DRX-530UL?

Hi

I was given an external DRX-530UL and was wondering whether I could enable it to write dual layer DVDs through firmware update? If so any good pointers for the firmware?

Not possible. I recommend picking up an 8x double layer drive. They're fairly cheap now.

I find it funny people always think firmware upgrade can do everything and anything.

I suppose there is always has to be the wise arse in forums making statements like that.

It was rumoured that late single layered drives were dual layer devices with crippled firmware. Is this true? I do not know but I was hoping my drive was one of these.
