32x CD-RW discs impossible to find in North America?

Postby Spazmogen on Sun Feb 20, 2005 4:09 pm

I've done a quick search for 32x RW discs with out success.

I can get 700mb 32x discs out of Europe, but nothing here in North America.

Anyone know of a retailer that has them online in North America?

I assume you meant to type:

I've done a quick search for 700 MByte 32x RW discs with out success.

No, I don't know of any places to find the 700 MByte, 32x CD-RW, but just in case you would be happy with 74-minute discs, there are plenty of places to buy Verbatim's 650 MByte, 32x CD-RW:

Manufacturers seem to give North Americans a short shrift in general when it comes to rewriteable media. I don't know why. Maybe they feel there isn't sufficient demand.

yeah, I should of stated I was looking for 700mb 32x discs.

I was busy here @ work with the snow storm and didn't get a chance to proof read my own post. 20cm of snow on the way today and the highway's gone crazy.

It's a similar situation to the 24x discs when they came out 2 years ago.
Europe got the 700mb Verbatims, and North America got the 650mb version.

Amazon.uksells the Verbatims, but will not ship over here. £9.36 for a 10 pack.

There's a seller on e-bay selling the 32x 700 MB Verbatim CD-RW's. He's located overseas.

But I'd be interested in an over seas online store that sells the 700mb 32x CD-RW discs...

Dell Canada does not yet have the 650mb discs listed, and DEll USA can't handle the transaction because I AM CANADIAN ( it's a Canadian joke, eh!).

Seriously though, I would buy online from Europe if I could get cheap enough shipping. It's the over seas shipping that kills most deals.

It's a shame that Amazon.uk will not do the order, as there's a few other items I'd be interested in. PAL DVD's etc.

Hmm you probally can order at Feurio webstore.
However it might result up to very high shipping costs.
ANd note Feurio webstore is probally one of the most expensive webstores.

Hope this one works.

http://www.feurio.com/feurio-cgi/shop2. ... hispeed_80

In the end 10 pieces will cost you 41.83 euro. hmm better use dvd+RW.

And Spazmogen you got pm.

Because we (in North America) seem to have a hard time finding 700mb RW media. 10x discs are everywhere. But 24 & 32x 700mb discs seem to be only in Europe & Asia.

I'd just like to have them to try out. I do not NEED them.

It would be a novelty to have them when they are not available over here.

Much like how I got 24x Verbatims 2 years ago, when they were not available in Canada until recently.

RJW:
Thanks for the E-bay link. It looks like even the seller is importing them. All I was able to find on Verbatim's AUS website was 650mb discs.

Thanks for your kind offer, as well.

But I think I'll have to just have to give up on getting any of these.

You can get Memorex 16x-24x discs at Wal-Mart and other places now, but 32x is next to rare...

OK.

I bought 2 of these: Image

from a guy in England. He imported them from Asia, only to find his drive was not a 32x RW unit. So they didn't work for him.

I've only had them 1 day, and I've run some quick tests on them.
I'l post my results later on, after I had a chance to work with them a while longer. 2 or 3 days probably.

Besides, Tiger Woods 2004 is calling my name right now.
