"lead-free" DVDR/RW

2006 legislation may require all computer components to be lead free; is the current ND3520 lead-free and if not will NEC release a new version anytime soon which will not contain any lead ?

Why does it matter? the NEC 3540 has already been announced, and we'll probably see an even newer burner from NEC before 2006 anyways. So the question to ask would be, are THOSE burners lead free? Which I don't know.

In what country?

I doubt it would be retroactive if it did pass.

lead free? why must my government take away my lead privileges

maybe i want lead in my products

I don't think CD/DVD burners will ever be lead free. Everytime I burn a disc the software says it's putting lead-in, then takes it back out at the end. The only times I don't get a lead-out message is when something crashes and I end up with a coaster. Lead must help in the burning process somehow, but if it's not removed from the disc afterwards, it doesn't work.
