DVD Read speed

Postby guggu on Tue Mar 08, 2005 8:36 pm

Hi I had a lite-on 167T and unlocked the speed restriction so it can read at max speed. When Burning to my pioneer at 8x it took approx 7 1/2 to 8 min. But my reader has now died. I am wanting to get a LG GDR8163B. Are these any good ?
Is there a lock on the speed read ?

All help is greatly appriciated.
Kindest Regards

They have the Aopen 1648 available from www.compuplus.com. I'll have to be purchasing a new dvdrom since my Toshiba 1712 has died.
