Those ads again...

What was that?

Those ads again...

Postby Boba_Fett on Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:42 pm

Well, normally I wouldn't have said anything (I've dodged ads trying to get me to kiss Brad Pit, give me free plasma screen TVs, and buy women's makeup to some avail), but when I saw this new ad telling me to hit G.W. Bush, I got a little upset. Now, granted, most of us know Ian has no love for the current President, but still, isn't this a little over the top? I think it would be best if we could surf these forums without getting hit peoples political idiology (in ad form)...

What about the one where you shoot a bunny for an iPod? Won't that offend PETA? What about the ads where you shoot cockroaches? Anyone feel bad for them?

It is poor taste of the advertiser to use a cursor that looks like a gunsite, but you're not actually shooting bush. You're throwing rocks, tomatoes, etc at him. To be honest, this is one ad I actually enjoy.. especially when I'm paying out the ass for gas right now.

Despite evidence to the contrary, the President is a known public figure and therefore will at times be used - prepare to be shocked - when people are looking for an identifiable object or person. It didn't become a political issue until you got offended by something pretty normal (advertisement using readily identifiable public figures).
A man has been charged after allegedly punching a 73-year-old woman in the face, breaking her nose and stabbing her in the arm with a corkscrew before hitting a second woman with a bottle at a wedding reception in the Whitsunday Islands.

I gotta agree with JamieW on this one. It shouldn't be taken too seriously I don't think.

I've gotta agree with JamieW on this one too. It's just an ad, your over-reacting.

No, over-reacting would be me sueing CDRLabs for not providing fair and equal coverage of key political figures getting blasted with rocks and tomatoes in ad form. Only liberals would go that far :P

We don't discriminate when it comes to ads like this. During the election, we had a number of ads with Kerry in them.

I have to say: those Cockroaches are just plain disgusting.
And I don't like seeing them crawling around while I'm viewing the forum. ](*,)

Of course you realize, they are neither cockroaches nor spiders, but rather just pixels in the form of roaches and spiders. The pixels are not going to jump out of your screen and attack you. :P
