It seems TDK has had a lot of bad media lately.... and not just from one of their suppliers, but from a couple different ones. It's gotta suck to be them! :o

Has anyone ever seen proof that Taiyo Yuden was making any TDK media? I have strong doubts of it personally.

Ahh, ok. That still doesn't prove anything. I know that Mitsui is using YUDEN000T02 for their 8x DVD+Rs now, and I ALSO know that Mitsui is a supplier of TDK media. I'm pretty sure that MITSUI also has a Japanese plant still too.

OK fine then.
then how is that quality of this media?

back to the question i asked of TCAS.
he said he's been having rather iffy TDK media, and i asked if that comment also applies to TDK media with TY MID code? (whoever it's made by - TY of Mitsui).

Well, I don't happen to get a lot of TDK made in Japan media in Canada :o

And since Mitsui won't bring in any 8x DVD+Rs yet either, I'm a little stuck. But I'm rather unimpressed with Mitsui's 8x DVD-Rs with TDK code (TTG02).

If all goes well however, I might have *1* piece of Mitsui's YUDEN000T02 media in 2-3 weeks (or maybe 4-6 weeks, it's going regular post from Europe!).

I was refering to TDK 8X (MID Code CMC MAG E01) made in Tiwan, I have yet to see any TDK brand made in Japan. I have Fuji MID TY T02 (8X DVD+R)made in Japan burns beautifully in my NEC 3500 at 16X without any problem at all.

Just by the way - I noticed on a PX-716UF in Plextools, the 'Media Test' function says that it cannot burn reliably to TDK 8x DVD-R media at 8x! Let alone 12x of course. On 4x and 6x it says 'the drive may fail to optimize parameters due to poor characteristics of this media'. Well, just what it says. Anyone else tried the 'media test' thingie in plextools, btw?

Just look for the MIJ

Thanks ETP!

It seems weekly sale prices at CUSA, BB, CC etc. have stabilized
at a consistent 40 cents a disc (without rebates and Price Matches (PMs)).

I got spoiled by 3 very cheap media deals in partcular (one at Staples and two at BestBuy that were later increased after apparently both being price mistakes even though we didn't know it at the time since the correction happened 3 or 4 DAYS later) in the past 6 months or so and I have yet to open them, except for ONE 15 pack of TDK 4X +R that I just started.
Burners only:

I've noticed that TDK 8x + MIJ are Yudens but what about 8x - TDA MIJ? Are they also Yuden?
