Actually - I'm planning on it too. After having numerous problems w/ Nero's video portion, along with their constant updates (I feel like a beta tester that hasn't been paid), time to say enough.

Cool! That makes two of us so far. I too prefer Easy Media Creator even though my coworkers, and few other folks from job, like Nero. Two good things about the 7.5 version are that it now includes an information tool (similar to Nero's) and a DVD player (Sonic's Cineplayer 2.0). It can also backup to magnetic media such as tapes.

Very cool features indeed. The announcement of this new verison stopped me from buying MyDVD 6.0 Deluxe Studio Suite for $150 dollars just get a few more features :D !

I plan to upgrade. I used both Nero 6 and EMC 7 and there has been several occasions that Nero could not burn a DVD and EMC did. It's transcoding is slower than Nero but the results for me at least, are discs that never fail to play in any DVD player.

I like the product and the 7.5 update addresses the slow transcoding speed.

I actually think EMC7 does a better job burning compliant DVDs than Nero does. I've had lots of troubles burning DVDs with Nero 6.6 (not playing, etc)... I have a set top recorder and burn to DVD-RW and then re-burn to DVD-R on the computer (or +R with bitsetting) to get better quality burns... EMC7 does a very good job of it.

EMC7 is much better than 5 or 6 were, IMHO... but neither product is perfect, both have lots of weird issues (interface/glitches/slowdown)...

I really don't like that we have to pay full price (or 'upgrade' full price -- which is usually more money than a Best Buy sale price!! :P ) for a ".5" update. They should've either made it a cheaper update, or called it 8, or sold a "booster pack" since it seems like most of the upgrades are in additional software and the upgrades to core functionality are fairly minor (Speed hikes, etc).

I still think RecordNow Max/DX 4.6 is about the pinnacle of burning. ;) (it does one thing and does it very well). Nero 5.5 is close, as well..

The suite is supposed to be released this month (tomorrow according to Amazon's web site). I'm getting a copy early next month.

Easy Media Creator 7.5

Postby deinabog on Thu Apr 07, 2005 12:17 pm

I got it and have burned a few CDs with it. The interface is unchanged from version 7. CinePlayer is great for watching DVDs; its image quality surpasses WinDVD 6 Platinum and PowerDVD (in my opinion). It is a tad glitchy though; I pressed the Eject button within the application panel and it locked up. Besides that everything is stable so far.

Anyone using MyDVD 6 Deluxe Suite? How is it compared to EMC 7.5? Can they be used together?
