Lite-ON SOHW-1673S or SONY DRU-720A

Postby zambalik on Fri Apr 08, 2005 11:20 pm

hello

i am looking for a dvd writer but i am so confused. i searched in my
country for the available models and i found these:

sony dru-720a
msi dr16-b2
lg gsa-4163b
samsung ts-h522
asus drw-1608p
lite-on sohw-1673s

i don't really know which one to buy. after the reviews i have read, i
think that sony and lite-on r the best.

i was just asking for advice.

thanx again

The Sony DRU-720A and Lite-On SOHW-1673S are essentially the same drive with a few minor firmware changes and different bezels.

MSI or LG. The MSI is a rebadged Benq 1620, which is excellent.

My opinion of those drives or those reviews? You don't want my opinion about those reviews. :-?

Here's our review of the Sony DRU-720A:

http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=256

Read that if you want my opinion of the drive.

the problem is that u wrote a review on the sony dru-720a and didn't write 1 on the lite-on sohw-1673s so i don't really know the diff except for the access time.

Sigh.. look above at what I said. The DRU-720A is a rebadged SOHW-1673S. Aside from the bezel and a few slight firmware mods, they are essentially the same.

Neither drive was on my or Bhairav's suggested list anyway.

Hello!

I recommend the Asus 1608 (rebadged Pioneer) or LG 4163.

The Asus is a good writer, the LG is the best allrounder, but not really good at writing 16x
