Optorite DD1203 won't burn 8x after SP2 update

Postby johnson636 on Fri Apr 15, 2005 1:09 am

Guys I have a Optorite DD1203 That I ve used and burned at 8x easy running SP1, but after I updated to SP2 My drive will only write 4x max using the same discs I was using while running SP1 :o

My Primary IDE is DMA Ultra 5 and my secondary IDE is DMA Ultra 2. I got some advice to update my chipset drivers, but I have no clue how to do this.

I'm desperately trying to find a solution to this problem while using SP2, so that I don't have to reinstall SP1 to see if that would help.

Can anyone help me?

What motherboard (maker/model) or chipset (maker/model) do you have? Look in the manual, if you don't know.

This way we can at least help with the chipset driver installation, although I'm not sure it'll fix your issues.

Yup, that's it. Intel 845.

Have you installed the latest Intel platform drivers?

http://support.intel.com/support/mother ... ffirst.htm

You may have to roll back the IDE driver after this (to regain STandard Microsoft IDE drive) though.

Also, to check (probably not related, but checking anyway):

- You have the master drive (Optorite) attached to the end of the IDE / ATA cable (not the middle)?

- You are using the same discs that you burned when you had SP1 (and not another disc type or another disc batch)? If you are using different discs, then this is probably the cause of your problems.

- Have you tried updating firmware for your Optorite? (www.rpc1.org)

If you can, please check those issues first.

Best of luck,
Halc

Its at the end.

Same discs from the same batch as I was using with SP1.

I'm running the latest firmware version:
Firmware Version : 120E

So do I just install that stuff at the link that You provided?

Well, that's about the only even remotely possible explanation I can think of (anymore).

Perhaps in addition to re-installing the software you burn with.

Anybody else have any bright ideas?
