CD WRITER:burning only works at lower speed

Postby joebf86 on Mon May 23, 2005 12:50 pm

i have a problem. my Cd Writer used to be working well till recently burning process always failed. i mean burning audio cds. when i burn

and today i tried again, but i used a lower speed, 12X, if i m not mistaken. and the burning process went well.
so maybe i can conclude that it works if only at lower speed...

could it be that the cd-writer has worn out? it's 3 years old...

anyone has the answer to my question?
i would really appreciate ur help.

First step would be to try different blank discs. Try a different brand/manufacturer and see if you can burn at a faster speed.

What burner are you using? Make and model please.

Also, could be the burning software just doesn't like the higher speeds anymore..........maybe it needs to be reinstalled. Do you have the latest firmware for your burner?

If it is the Lite-On LTR-48125W we are talking about, then look for it in the Media Compatibility Thread. You will find plenty of discs that burn over 12X; buy a pack of them to ensure better burning results. Double-check to see if the discs you are currently burning at only 12X are in the thread. They may be listed and the results may speak for themselves.

I would also recommend what SkaarjMaster said, check the firmware of your burner. A program like Nero CD-DVD Speed can inform you of the firmware, as well as other programs.
