My First DVD writer, which would you guys recommend?

Postby HAAK on Wed May 25, 2005 11:17 am

Hi, this is my first post here, and as I stated in the subjet, I want to buy a DVD/RW. As I live in Argentina, my choices are limited to NEC 3520A, Pioneer DVR-109/108 and LG 4163B. I'm leaning forward to the NEC, but I want to hear some advices, which would you guys recommend?
Another thing I want to ask if the Memorex media is ok for any of this drives, specially the 4x DVD+RW Discs packs and the 16x DVD-R Disc Spindle pack.

Thanks in advance.

ive own/owned both nec and pioneer models you mentioned

in my humble opinion pioneer 108, but if the nec is quite a bit cheaper go for that one
Thermaltake Core X5 Snow Edition TG Case
Corsair RM1000 Power Supply
MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
AMD Threadripper 1950x @ 4.1GHz
Custom Loop w/ EK MSI x399 Monoblock
G.Skill 4x8GB DDR4 3200 RGB Memory
MSI 1080Ti Lightning X Video Card

Thanks for the reply hoxlund. The price difference is 5 to 10 U$S, not a big deal, but I want to make the right decision with this.

Thanks.

wait

You should wait til something better is available. For example, Pioneer A09. Did you read Ian's reviews of the three that you listed in your post? Some of those did not get good reviews. If I remember right, the NEC could only read at 5x for DVD video. I suggest that you wait some time more, or check with the sales channel for other choices.

I am waiting for the Plextor PX-716SA to arrive to my home.
