Optorite DD1203 problem

Postby johnson636 on Fri Jun 24, 2005 2:19 pm

About 3 or 4 months ago I noticed that my DD1203 was not writing at 8x on TDK 8x compatible media. I bought a 25 pak of TDK 8x DVD-r media a while ago and everything was OK. I was writing at 8x on compatible dvd-/+r media, and up to 52x on cd-/+r media. Then, if my memory serves me correctly, I reformatted my HD and after that I noticed that I was only able to write at 4x on the same exact batch of TDK 8x media. I ran a firmware update but nothing changed. I was told that it might be due to the second half of the batch of TDK were indeed 4x max media and this is a known practice by companies. I had excepted that theory until I noticed that my drive would no longer recognize my Sony cd-rw media in which it had before. Now I now that my problem is drive related.

Can anyone help me on this.

It would probably be helpful the know the firmware version you're using and the MID codes of the media.

Pre-recorded Information:

I don't think its a media problem because for 1: its the same batch in which I wrote at 8x and 2: my drive doesn't recognize my sony cd-rw now but did at one time

But what do I know, I picked the Pistons to win the NBA Championship :o

Have patience. We're not here at your beck and call.

Try the drive in another computer. If it works there, it's something you did after you reformatted. If you still have problems, then its the drive.
