Error Correction for archiving DATA discs - MD5, PAR/PAR2 ?

Postby Coyote on Tue Jun 28, 2005 3:45 am

I am archiving lots of photos to CD-R and DVD-R. What's the best error verification system to use? Is there any that can correct DATA that may be missing/corrupted? I know MD5 just verifies, and won't correct the errors.

par files actually repair corrupted files, since im a hardcore believer in newsgroups they are always used there

quickpar is one of the best freeware programs used to create and use par files
