Need expert opinion on this media

I normally buy and have excellent results with Ritek Ridata discs. Unfortunatley, they are currently on back order with no known arrival date. It was recommended that I go with the ProDisc CD-R's shown here: http://www.blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=594.

Another recommendation was these: http://www.blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=615

I would appreciate some constructive/destructive comments about them before I spend my money; good deal or no. :D

THANKS!!

Hmm, which burner do you have?

I wouldn't be surprised if the TDK discs are actually made by Ritek.

I have a Liteon LTR 52246S burner. However, these discs will be used with various brands/models of burners. The Ritek Ridata discs that I have been using have worked flawlessly in every drive. I'm simply looking for discs which are likewise reliable. They are used mainly for data storage and not music although on a rare occasion I might burn an audio disc.

THANKS!

The LTR-52246S behaves well with ProDisc media, so there are no worries in my mind with that burner. I have used ProDisc media in my LG drives, and never had a problem either.

In comparing ProDisc to Ritek, the only difference I noticed was the width of the discs. ProDisc seems to make their discs a tiny bit thinner than Ritek or other manufacturers; you may not even notice, because it is somewhat insignificant. It hasn't had any effect on the discs, from what I can tell, just a cosmetic difference.

If you opt for the TDK discs, you may receive Ritek media, and you may not. Since TDK uses various manufacturers, you are never sure what you are going to get. I still trust TDK though. I have used TDK discs made by Ritek and CMC, and both worked fine.

I know it's a tough choice. Personally, knowing my frugality, I would go for the cheaper media. :D Especially considering that I have had success with ProDisc before. The choice is yours, however.

Thanks for the recommendation for ProDisc. I thought about it for some time and opted for the TDK special only because I've used them in the past and never had any issues. The savings I would have gotten buying the ProDiscs was tempting, but I wasn't willing to take the chance since that brand in several other places in this forum was bad-mouthed quite a bit, although it was generally in regard to DVD discs. I doubt I will regret the choice I made and I'll be curious to see who the actual manufacturer is of the discs after they arrive.

THANKS!!
