Can C2 errors be copied from a CD rom master to silvers?

Postby Gorf_UK on Tue Jul 26, 2005 4:21 am

I am being told by a third party that cd's I have had professionally made at a replicators are coming up with a high amount of C2 errors, I have used these replicators many many times before but now have had C2 errors on 3 different titles all made at the same time, can these C2 errors come from the original masters maybe or should I be blaming the replicators? The end users are saying the error they are receiving is 'cd not approved' the disks are protected using CD Cops protection. [-o<

What kind of media are you using for the CD Master?

Basically, if the master is completely readable, then the replicated copies will be fine. If the master has unreadable sections, so the replicator can't make out data, then it's the same as if C2 errors were copied (although in reality it is a lack of data being copied). Now, any replication plant worth doing business would CATCH THIS sort of thing before it happened. Maybe you should be questioning the plant why they are not testing masters before putting them into production?

Another possability is that it's the CDCops protection screwing things up. I don't know how that affects things personally, so I can't comment on it beyond this.
