BenQ 1640 showing up at newegg

DVD-R/W, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM

Postby TCAS on Thu Aug 04, 2005 10:15 pm

I just finished ordering mine from newegg.com and expecting to get it either by tomorrow (Friday Aug 5, or Monday Aug 8), I will install it and do some test and post the results and experience with the drive later.

I'm pretty sure Newegg doesn't have a price protection policy unlike many retailers, but if they give you a credit anyways, more power to you!

I received my 'beige' DW1640 OEM from newegg(in 2 days BTW) and here's what I got:
Drive in bubble wrap dated 5/2005.
BSHB firmware.
Nero v6.3.1.26 OEM

I got my black OEM 1640 from newegg yesterday. Aside from the color everything is the same as what burninfool reports including the retail BSHB firmware. Perhaps Benq has decided that a separate "G" series of OEM firmware is more trouble than it is worth.

I still have it. There is nothing wrong with it. I just moved it to another computer that needed an optical drive.

Thanks for the welcome, and to you too, TCAS.
