shrink kvcds for burning?

Postby sol1978 on Wed Aug 03, 2005 1:57 am

i have a 750mg kvcd file (bin) and have tried numerous ways to squeeze it onto my 860 mg cd, (which for some reason will take only 702mg :() Until i buy better and larger cd's, how can i burn the file? I have tried with Nero 6, i have tried to extract the Mpeg - just about every method i could get my hands onto. Any ideas?
TIA

Did you activate the overburning option in Nero? 860 MB is also a funny size- what's the nominal length (in minutes)?

I did enable overburning, but Nero still said "not enough space" which leads me to think that there is a problem with the cd-r. the cd-r is 100mins. tonight i will try burning the cue file to the cd-r and seeing if that works, but i doubt it - i think this one is jinxed. i tried to compress the file, but it refuses to be extracted once burned to cd-r. Does winzip support kvcd?
Thanks!

Which burner do you use and which burn-program?

i used the dao mode and my burning program is Nero, which to date has behaved itself. i have to check again the burner - at home - as i cant remember the exact numbers. last night, i managed to zip the bin and cue into 605mb. i have yet to burn it on a disk, so i dont know what the outcome will be when i unzip it from the the disk. have you ever tried that?

TIA

If you unzipp the cue+bin will have the size like before zipping. But I think it´s uncomfortable to unzipp and extract the image before you can use the data

in theory, i would zip it, burn it and delete the file from my hard drive. the if and when i would need it, i can unzip it to my hard drive, use it and then delete it. i know - it is quite a long and non-tech process, but i see it is (so far) my only choice. :( oh well! when and if i ever come up with a better solution (other than spending money i dont have on more memory or another hard drive), i will post it here.

thanks!
