Apparently the storm trooper fired some 600 shots. All of them missed of course.

But on a serious note, why is he being detained just because they showed up? He didn't do anything.
A man has been charged after allegedly punching a 73-year-old woman in the face, breaking her nose and stabbing her in the arm with a corkscrew before hitting a second woman with a bottle at a wedding reception in the Whitsunday Islands.

It was probably some Trekkie. He was pissed that this guy's costume was better than the cardboard Borg suit he made in his parents' basement.

isn't the Storm Trooper lacking in height?

I think that it may be that the officer is standing on the sidewalk, while the 'trooper is standing in the street, it looks like that may be a high curb (6"+?). He may still be on the short side, but not as short as the pic may look.
