nice screenshots
seems like a freshened up version
as long as it has improvements when burning it should be worthly upgrade

honestly though...the background drew more attention than nero did

Nero "Home"? :-? Is that what I think it is? Why does every company feel that it's necessary to get into this whole bloody "digital home media" stuff, anyway? It's not like users who have been using the other much more well-established and specialized media players will suddenly jump ship for an upstart that is supposed to specialize in burning.

nero burning rom screenshot

burning vista_usa_5219.050830-2010_x64fre_win-dvd to dvd+r Maxell 002 media, which is 2,458MB big (windows vista x64 ultimate - build 5219)

as you can see the showspeed.reg works, but starting into windows gave an nero error message that tells you it will autocorrect this when you restart windows again

also booktype works great too as you can see from the screenshot, but of course that part isn't surprising

I guess that's one good thing about Nero 7... they separated all the components on install. So is it now possible to install only Nero itself and the toolkit and do away wtih all the other junk that was forced down our throats back in the days of Nero 6 like the wave editor, smart start, image drive (Daemon Tools is better, thank you), etc.?

Hehe. Just wanted to check. :) Didn't know if there were certain options that you aren't allowed to de-select...

I'm suddenly starting to like Nero 7, and very ironically, it's because of bloat reduction.

This is the very reason why I hopped ship from Easy CD Creator to Nero in the first place... all the bloatware crap we're seeing in Nero 7 now.

Thanks, I'll stick with Nero 6.6.

Since it's already leaked out, I'll add a little to this.

With the new Nero ProductSetup feature in the StartSmart ToolKit area, even if you installed all the 'bloatware' by mistake, you can go back and remove any of those programs you do not like or will never use.

And when it comes to upgrades, you no longer need to download a 30MB or 40MB file to upgrade, the new upgrade feature in Nero ProductSetup will only download those components needed, so depending on the new fixes or new features, it could be anything from 700Kb to 5MB in size.

As for 'Getting into the Nero Digital Home' aspect. Nero Home will be much more than that when we are done with it. Though it does currently work and function similar to any other MCE system at this time, but that will change.

You should also really check out the changes to BackItUP. We've really put some effort into it.

Craig

old computer

Postby DVS on Sun Sep 18, 2005 5:23 pm

Hi guys. I have an old comp: Windows 98, 400mhz, 128mb ram. Some software coming out now are not supporting Windows 98 and some of the requirement are very high :(. I was wondering if you guys think that my comp would be able to handle Nero 7. Thanks

Hi DVS,

Yes, Nero 7 will run on Windows 98SE, ME, W2K and XP.

Of course if you are going to be working with Video, it will be slow, but it will work. :-)

@Craig,
As you stated "Since it's leaked out" does NERO know about one of the big problems I've been reading about. Between 35%-45% of the testers have reported that "Nero Burning ROM" abends on module "bcgcbpro730.dll" (bcg ControlBar Professional DLL) ???

Since this came out a month before the release date, I'm going to guess that this might've been some sort of beta version...

Yes, it's one of the issues I personally reported to our Engineers some alpha versions back. The problem I am having is that they have not been able to reproduce this issue on any of their systems. Whereas I am not able to avoid this issue on any of mine. If I edit the Registry, it is fixed until I launch Nero Express again. It would appear this problems occurs after you launch Nero Express, onc you do that, it makes a change in the registry the causes Nero Burning ROM not to function any more.

They are looking into this now, as we have got to resolve this before Oct release date. :-)

Craig
