How to find out if a disc was burned in DAO or TAO?

Postby strat on Thu Sep 22, 2005 6:30 am

Hi,

topic says it all.
Is there a way to find out if a disc was burned in DAO (disc at once) or TAO (track at once) mode?
TIA

not what i would call a good way to find out, but it's the only one i know.

CDSpeed has a bug in the ScanDisc feature (still! in the latest 4.01. it has existed for a long time), where if the disc was burned TAO the last 2 blocks turn up red (=bad).
so assuming your disc was burned fine, and you're confident that it's readable, and you do a ScanDisc and the last 2 blocks are red, it was burned TAO. if it was DAO the last 2 blocks will turn up green (assuming the disc is readable and no errors obviously).

to the best of my knowledge this phenomenon does not depend on which software or drive you used to burn the disc.

Is the disc a CD or DVD?
If CD you can only tell if the disc is open or closed using Nero CDSpeed, etc.
If the disc is a DVD then it is always TAO.
