Bestbuy USA sucks

What was that?

Bestbuy USA sucks

Postby dolphinius_rex on Mon Sep 26, 2005 1:32 pm

I have to make the distinction here, since I live in Canada, many would probably think I mean BestBuy Canada... but no... I mean Bestbuy USA.

So a while ago when BestBuy had their sale on Nero 6.6, I figured I'd pick it up since it qualified for the free upgrade to 7.0. For $40 USD I figured it was a good choice! This was Sept 3rd when the order was placed.

Unfortunately, BestBuy was quickly backordered on the product... and then just today (23 days later), Aviationwiz who had ordered the product for me received a notice that BestBuy had cancelled the order because the product was no longer available.

And *WHY* is the product no longer available?? Because Nero 7 is about to be released!

I'm pretty pissed off that they decided that instead of honouring their sale price, they opted to drop the product and hope I'll re-order Nero 7 at regular price.

It's not hard to replace Nero 6.6 with Nero 7.... It's basically the same product anyways.

They should not let someone add it to their cart if it is not available.
BB used to be known for bait and switch, at least they did not try to sell 7.0 for a jacked up price.

When I ordered it, they told me it would ship in 5-7 business days. When I checked the product on their site leading up to the cancellation, it kept saying 5-7 business days, and had an estimated arrival date for me.

This is pure BS!

It's amazing companies like this can stay in business!

I work closely with a few retail outlets here in Canada, and they plan their sales carefully.... they ONLY put things on sale if they have enough product. Sure things run out of stock from time to time, but it's very easy to put *LIMITED QUANTITIES* onto items that are discontinued.

Oh god I am with you on the best buy thing, luckily you haven’t had to deal with the morons face to face in a retail establishment. Communing from Germany I am appalled how retailers function in the USA (and why they aren’t out of business). BTW compusa is just as bad in my book.

In Hannover a retailer (Saturn which is like best buy) at the time was selling the LG 4120 and become backordered even though I ask for a reserve. They were very apologetic and gave me the drive for free when stock came in. (I have had best buy give me a cancellation on backorder stuff with out an apology)

But again, best buy had FF advent children set for availability in early August (and it wasn’t even out yet in Japan). I wonder if anyone that ordered it for that date got an apology.

The overall selection at Best Buy has gone way down too over the past few years. It's starting to turn into a dump.

selection at the 2 best buys in mesa really sucks now

the anime section is almost non existent (used to be large)
console game selection is outdated (the local wal mart has gotten stuff sooner)
DVD writers and even media (saw some fuji 2x discs on the shelf still at full cost) (very outdated)
MP3 palyers (good god is it small)

Move to mesa and work at one of the best buys ^^

None of the staff at them have any knowledge (computer or general), one of the people directed me in the area of computer memory when I ask from blank DVD rams (not kidding ^^)

So what we've learned here is that there appears to be one BestBuy worth shopping at
