DVD-RW suggestions?

Postby Lenonn on Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:21 am

Any recommendations for a DVD-RW drive? I've been looking at the reviews, but really can't decide. Right now I don't have a major need for burning things, it would just be more of a "nice to have" item.

Aside from my Xbox and Sony DVD player, my only other DVD drive is a Creative Encore 6X (I have a TDK VeloCD 52X CD-RW drive), which it may be time like to switch out the Creative. I'd like to be able to burn from as many formats as possible (from the huge list DVD-RW, DVD+RW,DVD-R, yadda, yadda, yadda). I also hope for a large enough buffer that underrun won't be a problem. And it goes without saying that quality burns would be nice, but I don't know much about the quality, so as a newbie, I probably wouldn't be able to tell between a high and low quality burn. Software packages are not necessary - I'd probably end up just purchasing a copy of the most recent version of Nero anyway.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I can't think of a modern DVD burner that has anything larger than 2MB. Coasters due to underruns are a thing of the past with modern drives anyway.

To cut to the chase and to back up the above poll, the BenQ 1640 is the top dog now.

but i agree that it's not important anymore (IMO anyway).
