I stopped by Best Buy tonight and picked up one of the Sony DVD+R 50 disc spindles for $17.99. Made in Japan and the discs are YUDEN000T02.

The big surprise to me was the Khypermedia 8X DVD+R 50 disc spindle I bought at OfficeMax for $11.99 (give aways to friends). The media code is MCC 004. Made in Taiwan. I was expecting CMC. I don't see that anyone else has gotten MCC 004 for the Khypermedia 8X DVD+R on videohelp.com yet.

That's nice of you... giving away the good stuff to your friends.

Did you notice any distinguishing text etc on the spindle that might help identify the MCC media? If I get to Richmond this weekend I'll try a spindle out of curiosity.

I e-mailed Khypermedia to ask what their packaging these days. I'll let you know if I get a response.

Nice to see your still around!

It's not unsual for CMC to use their MCC code media in K-Hypermedia... but to use 16x DVD+R code media for 8x DVD+R discs..... THAT'S weird!! :o

There was nothing special I could tell. It has two foam spacers at the top of the spindle. The label is a generic Made in Taiwan Khypermedia. I'm just wondering if it is MCC 004 media that wasn't A grade that is being packaged as 8x media.

I originally bought it for give aways assuming it was CMC. I probably will still use it as such. I've been using Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R discs lately for my stuff.

Thanks, Jim.

The Office Max that I tried didn't have any +R 8x Khypermedia in stock and I didn't try anywhere else.

BTW, I never did get a e-mail response from Khypermedia.
