Seasonal avatars

Postby MediumRare on Sat Dec 03, 2005 6:09 pm

This place is becoming too serious. :^o

Inspired by the goings-on in a German forum I decided to pick a new avatar with an appropriate seasonal theme. I've made modifications to some of the ones I've used or considered using in the past.

I've tentatively picked one than goes with TheWizard's first remarks, although my wife said it's in bad taste- but she has strong vegetarian tendencies

This one doesn't really fit:

This was the last one I used- until the Louvre changed it's website:

and this one goes back to the great avatar movement and an overreaction thereto:

Image

as does this one (part of an escalation strategy not implemented):

What do you think would be most interesting or appropriate?

Seeing as it's no fun making a fool of myself all on my own, I've come up with some suggestions for some other regular posters here. I think it's fairly clear who's meant:

Now this one caused me a lot of problems. I really wanted to do something like this, but it didn't scale down gracefully, so I had to settle for this proposal:

I had some trepidations about this one, knowing how Americans feel about their flag and other national symbols- but here goes (counting on humour and Christmas cheer). I've added bill's avatar (with transparent background) to the collection.

Ha, nice! Decorative and functional! Penguins lose 90% of their body heat through their heads, so mine should be all taken care of this winter. ;)

The small ones could use some sharpening (at the expense of a little increase in size):

Nicely done, cfitz, and good so see you back for your monthly visit. :D

Living in "liberal" Europe, I would be tempted to do a bit more with the iMac girl's attire, so it's just as well that you did the job. I suspect you're more proficient with the graphic tools, too- I know that I've learned quite a bit from you. This thread is the harvest of an afternoon of messing around with Photoshop Elements.
