FIRMWARE FLASH FAILURE

Postby davros on Sun Dec 11, 2005 5:15 pm

Hello forum. Today I tried to update the firmware on my ASUS DVD-616A dvd drive and the windows flash tool simply locked up my pc causing me to reboot after waiting 15 mins or so. Now windows wont boot at all with this drive attached. I opened the dvd's case and noticed the main chip inside has MT1355PE wrote on it.......does this mean its a mediatek chip that can be recovered in DOS using mtkflash??? If it indeed is...then I have another problem ...I dont have a BIN. firmware for this drive (I have looked on the net everywhere)..Can anyone help please???/ I need a bin firmware and instructions on how to flash (jumper arrangement etc.) THANKS IN ADVANCE CHAPS!!!!!!
