The plus I bought last sale was Yuden T02 and is some of the best burning I have gotten lately so that would be a good deal for folks. Lets hope all the plus is yuden.

I picked some DVD+R yesterday, it's made in Japan.
How could I tell if it's TY or something else?
Usually cd-r media made in Japan was TY, is this true for dvd media?

Thanks

I stopped by Best Buy on the way home today to price match Mario Kart DD and picked up a spindle of the Sony DVD+R. Tons of MIJ spindles.

Right, they were $14.99 on sale and then the 10% coupon dropped them down to $13.49 plus tax. The MarioKart was price matched to $29.49. I originally paid $34.99 when it came out.

Thanks for the deal (even though I won't be using it).

I know this is a bit off topic, but I hope everyone remembers how Sony BMG has acted in the past few weeks (read: rootkit fiasco) when they look at Sony products on store shelves. Without offense to the original poster, I won't be buying any Sony products, even well-made ones, for a long time.

Better not buy any CD-Rs then, as Sony owns some patents on them. Also don't watch any HD Ready TV or Movies, since it's filmed on a Sony proprietary format... In fact, don't watch most TV or movies, since the non-HD stuff is usually shot on Sony product, or Sony format tape stock anyways.

And why boycott Sony DVDRs? The departments are unrelated, and it's only taking sales away from Daxon (and BenQ!!), or possibly Taiyo Yuden (depending on the OEM).

it's too bad that Sony has it's fingers dug in so deep in our lives in so many ways.
a scary thought really.

Microsoft.

Before you disagree, try to imagine a world where one or the other went bankrupt (yes, I know MS going bankrupt is implausible, but humour me)... which one would cause more world devistation?

There are companies that could take over for Sony in media innovation. There are music and movie labels that could take over for them. There are hardware manufacturers who could fill in the gaps (quite happily probably too). There is nothing Sony does that is essential to life as we know it. Microsoft on the other hand is ingrained into our daily activities to such a degree that if they went down, the world would probably go into shock, at least from a business perspective.

Maybe I cannot avoid it all...but if I can avoid any product bearing the Sony name, perhaps it will be enough. And yes, I know Sony BMG is only one division of Sony; however, if Sony sales suffer because of Sony BMG's mistake, perhaps changes will be made to the way Sony BMG does business in the future.

I understand what you're saying Dolph, and I admit, it's just me, one person, and I that Sony is huge. But I have to stand for something if I believe in it, even if it doesn't make a huge difference.

P.S. Another can of worms, but if MS theoretically went bankrupt, they wouldn't die. Someone would snap them up in a heartbeat with dollar-signs in their eyes.

the world can do very well without microsoft.
