Maxell=Ritek???

Postby jberry on Thu Dec 29, 2005 3:33 pm

You know I have been out of the loop for a while, but I got 100 Maxell from Futureshop for $20, 8X speed. But low and behold they are Ritek...when did Maxell start doing this? Is this old news? Are they junk (I bet they are).

Oh my :-)

Yeah... that's the old stock. Newer Maxell's are made by CMC and sometimes even Maxell in Japan again!

for the best stuff, get the Plus Series Maxell's from NCIX :wink:

Hello!

From waht I have seen, the Ritek and CMC shows better burn-quality (lower PIF) tahn original Maxell 8x.
Benq DW 1640 and 1650 , Plextor PX-755, Pioneer BDR-208 and 209D, LG GH24NSC0, LG BH16NS40 and 16NS55, Liteon ihas 124F and 324F, Pioneer DVR-215 and S21, Samsung SH-224DB and 224GB, and some more

I was meaning that I get better results with Maxell's own media, then Ritek or CMC.... but that I agree some CMC can be quite awesome!

Here is burn quality at 8x....what do you think....4x burn would likely have yielded better maybe?

4x will probably work a little better yeah. Still it seems like it's ok.
