I'm not sure if it's legit... and I'm CERTAINLY not buying one... but here it is:

Okay.. I'll elaborate some more. The player pictured is the Sony BDZ-S77. It's been out in Japan since 2003 and does NOT conform to the official Blu-Ray spec.

People have been trying to sell these things on eBay for months now, claiming that they are Blu-ray recorders. They are not. Do not buy one expecting them to work with BD-R and BD-RE discs.

Hmm, all menus in Japanese, ships directly from Japan, if there is a problem you have to deal with Sony, who are going to laugh and tell you they won't support a grey market import.

And most importantly, the only way that thing can record in HD is off a Japanese HD satellite! Otherwise, the best it will do is many hours of SD content. Also only records in MPEG2.
