DVD to CD-R Burning

How fast is too fast?

DVD to CD-R Burning

Postby Albinoni on Sat Jan 21, 2006 1:20 pm

I have a DVD of Debian 3.1 Linux which came on a cover of Linux Format Mag. But what I want to do is to burn this onto CD-R's. Now I dont have a DVD burner but do have a CD-R burner and a DVD-ROM. Is it possible (using Nero) to do this.

i don't know if this will work.
what files exactly do you have on that DVD-ROM ?

usually when you install off CDs, the installer expects a few discs and prompts you at various time to insert disc #3 etc.
if you just copy the files from the installation DVD and split them across a few CDs it might confuse the isnstaller - it expects to see certain files on the installation media (disc #1) but won't find them.

then again, if you're doing a minimal installation you might not run into problems.

maybe Socheat will see this (he's an expert at Linux).

you can always download CD installation ISOs and burn them to CDR.
