You need either a stand alone DVD recorder or a computer with a capture card / DVD burner. There should be no issues with copy protection as LD did not use any that I am aware of.

Thanks. Any capture card in particular or just normal type?

Yes, even no macrovision. I think thats another reason they wanted DVD so badly, more DRM control for them. After dvd came out laser disks died pretty quickly  I have 2 good players and about 20 movies now and I'll have to do the same thing with the ones I cant replace, I do have a nice settop with a Hard drive in it.

I've got still my Philips an Pioneer players the Philips one broke down, and on the Pioneer one, i can't play PAL Laservision (analog sound), there doesn't seem to be a cheap way to make the CLD1850 PAL Laservision compatible :(

Hit E-bay, should be all kinds of lesser players for cheap. Also garage sales and like that sometimes have them.

Yes, thankyou, i allready saw one there, and even in a Dutch version of that, called (translated) marketplace, i found one, contacted, but have not yet a reply, for a CLD1050, that should do the "trick" i guess, need only to transfer a few..
Found out, that the one i've got now, is pretty lousy in video-quality, strange that most U.S. players don't use RGB connections, seems to be an european "feature" just like scart...
I guess transfering LD's and LV's is pretty straight forward, and NTSC is also "real" NTSC,not PAL60.. so those discs should not be any problem for my ADVC100.
Still have one other problem.... the dvdr's i made, and that play well on any other player, don't play well on my Playstation2, they play shockwise, ripped movies, or recordings from a dvd-recorder, play fine on the PS2, have no idea, where in the MPEG2 coding or authoring, occurs the difference, that make this "effect" in playback.

I guess your settop is a HDD recorder with a digital cable tuner in it ? most of the "stuff" here, is analog, when you move to a different city, do you need to change your settop box? here in the Netherlands, we have different cable-tv providers...:(
