old pc gives problem

i have a problem. something is wrong with the cpu, i guess.

when i switch it on, it makes sound weird sounds...dut dut dut dut.
the1st screen didnt finish load.
it appeared to be keyboard error.

my question is that does keyboard can affect the operating system? it sounds illogical to me, but correct me if im wrong.

besides that i suspect some of teh components inside was missing or broken as my sis took out her hardware in a rush the other day.
how do i make sure if that's the problem?

this pc is 6++ years old. does pc actually broke down because of its age?

make sure keyboard is completely attached to your PC in the back of your PC.

some motherboards won't boot if a keyboard is not connected (sometimes this can be configured in the BIOS).
i wouldn't think that this would cause the strange sounds, though...

I agree dodeca, my first thought is the hard drive took (or is in the process of taking a dump).

The dut,dut, dut sounds reminds me of the sound that the IBM Deathstars used to make when they died.

make sure you have the keyboard plugged into the correct ps2 port, same with the mouse

i have found from error that computers do very weird things, my old asus p4c800-e deluxe mobo wouldn't boot at all, light up, anything if i had the mouse/keyboard switched in the ps/2 ports

I've had 2-3 computers that if the keyboard had a stuck key (if I left something propped against the space bar or something) I'd get the weird noises on bootup and sometimes it would just freeze without booting.

Keyboard is definitely the first thing to check/replace. Or try booting WITHOUT a keyboard or mouse just to see if it goes any further.

Was going to say this myself yesterday, but the forums were so slow that I canceled posting. I'd go for stuck keyboard key or bad keyboard as being the first likely problem.

Another possibility is a bad PSU(power supply unit).
